Current Management Issues

On September 26, 2014, NOAA Fisheries announced a not warranted 12-month finding (79 FR 57875), determining that the humphead wrasse is a global population with no distinct population segments (DPSs), and the species does not warrant listing as threatened or endangered under the ESA at this time.

On February 28, 2013, NOAA Fisheries made a positive 90-day finding (78 FR 13614), determining that the petitioned action may be warranted. A comprehensive status review was conducted to inform the 12-month finding.

On October 31, 2012, a petition to list the humphead wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus) under the ESA was received from WildEarth Guardians.
